Individual grief services include meeting with a clinician for short-term, individual grief counseling, or with an FVHH volunteer who is extensively trained in all aspects of grief support.
The work with a FVHH volunteer is focused on facilitating a grief companioning relationship for up for 12 months, which provides a listening and supportive ear while identifying additional resources as needed during this difficult time. Meeting with a volunteer is recommended for those who have made progress in their grief process already but need ongoing supportive conversations.
This unique six-week program offers grief support for parents and adult family members, including extended adult family members, who have experienced perinatal loss through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, or neonatal loss. Footprints provides a small-group environment where participants can find strength and comfort in sharing with other parents, helping one another through the grieving process and respecting their loss.
Some of the topics covered in the Footprints program include:
- The stages of grief
- How men and women grieve this loss differently
- Accessing support services
- Managing special dates and holidays
- Knowing when you’re ready to move on
Short-term individual counseling is also available, at no charge, during the interim between Footprints groups.
Footprints is provided free of charge to participants; however, advance registration and a refundable deposit are required. For more information, email email@example.com.
