FVHH has started the new year off by welcoming Youth and Family Grief Counselor, Jacquelyn Jennings, MSW! Jacquelyn brings with her a wealth of knowledge from her academic endeavors at Aurora University. When asked what encouraged her to join Fox Valley Hands of Hope and work for the mission, Jacquelyn remarked, “Working with those who are facing loss is my true calling. I have seen firsthand the difference it makes to have an understanding ear and a little guidance during a part of life that can feel overwhelming, confusing, and often very painful. As a Fox Valley native, I was thrilled to discover this resource so close to home. Having the opportunity to provide grief support to people from all walks of life, in my own community, is a dream come true.”

As Jacquelyn embarks on her first year with the agency she looks forward to continuing to make connections FVHH volunteers, staff, community partners, and clients. She champions the importance for creativity in regards to how we engage our clients in these ever changing times. While the challenging implications of COVID-19 will continue, Jacquelyn does not shy away from overcoming those challenges with hope and compassion, “In thinking about the challenges before us, I like this quote from poet Nizar Qabbani: ‘Light is more important than the lantern.'”

Jacquelyn’s passions outside of her counseling work include her two wonderful children, playing piano, drawing, and riding her bike. The FVHH staff is confident that Jacquelyn’s fervor for compassion will transcend through her work and we are thrilled to have her as part of the team. Please join us in welcoming Jaquelyn on board! If you would like to personally welcome Jaquelyn she can be reached at 630.232.2233 ext. 1225 or,  jjennings@fvhh.net
