Fox Valley Hands of Hope’s Bereavement Team strives to meet the growing needs of our community with brand new support programs and workshops available to the community, free of charge. We are excited to add to our program offerings this summer and share our partnership with G.R.A.S.P., an organization who serves to support those who has lost a loved one to substance abuse, beginning June 26th.
Grief Recovery After Substance Passing (GRASP) was created to offer understanding, compassion, and support for those who have lost someone they love through addiction and overdose. Too many times families suffer not only the death of the person they love, but become isolated in their grief.
In 2017, there were 70,237 drug overdose deaths in the United States. As more people are touched by addiction and overdose, more and more families are grieving the unique death loss of addiction or overdose, yet a societal stigma and guilt keeps families from receiving the grief support they need.
GRASP is a drop in support group offered at the Fox Valley Hands of Hope office the 4th Wednesday of the month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This group is for all who have had loved ones slip away due to addiction and to begin to ease the pain for those left behind to cope.
Please call to register your attendance to this group in advance, at 630-232-2233
