For more than 37 years, this organization has reached out to those in need of care, support and friendship as they face life-threatening illnesses or the loss of a loved one. Our corps of dedicated volunteers – more than 300 strong – is our strength, and provides Fox Valley Hands of Hope with the ability to truly impact the lives of individuals and families at an extremely challenging time. I applaud our volunteers’ efforts and I admire their commitment.

As we (finally!) move into spring, I would like to recognize the work of a special group of volunteers: the Garden Party Committee. This group is responsible for our signature fundraising event – a luncheon extravaganza that this year will occur on May 25 and which will include nearly 20 raffle showcases, Silent and Live Auctions, entertainment and more for an estimated 800 attendees.

The Garden Party committee’s focus, devotion and literally months of hard work are what makes this event so special, year after year. I appreciate everything they do. As we publish this, the committee is hard at work creating the stunning raffle showcases – everything from dream vacations to dream home furnishings – and making sure that Garden Party remains the Event of the Season.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Fox Valley Hands of Hope. Our mission, to provide grief support services free to the Fox Valley community, is accomplished through volunteer efforts. I thank each and every volunteer for the roles they play in ensuring FVHH continues to enhance the quality of life to those we serve. – Greg Weider, executive director
